Does it have to be that way? The painting above is a reproduction of a Kandinsky painting. It’s been on my wall for 20 years. I don’t really know what it means. It’s not promoting a product of any sort. Nevertheless, even though i’ve seen it a million times, it always engages me at some point during the day. It’s really a model of composition and shows how shapes and forms can be constructed in a way that is beautiful and pleasing to view. But even more impressive is the incredible energy of the painting. It really extends from the soul of the artists and grabs you whether you can process it intellectually or not.

It possesses “design spirit”. I don’t know if malls will be graced by an abundance design spirit anytime soon but it’s what i try to strive for in my work: Not just pleasing to the eye, but a real expression of energy.
